Spotify says Adele rules the workplace!

In a recent study conducted by Spotify, it has been revealed that Adele is the artist most employees listen to during the workday. Hey, we’re not surprised!

Their research indicates 61% of people listen to music in the workplace, with Adele proving the most popular. The British superstar is listened to by 16% of employees, with Arctic Monkeys next in second place with 14% and Mumford and Sons round off the Top 3 with 13%.

The streaming service provided some other neat findings!

  • Over a third (36%) of workers find that music helps to get them through the day
  • 20% of workers find that listening to music is a welcome distraction from their “boring” jobs
  • 16% admitted that they listen to music to drown out colleagues
  • One in ten (10%) revealed that they have judged a colleague based on their choice of music

Spotify research showed that the most popular genre of music in the workplace is pop/chart music, with over a third (34%) choosing it as their preferred genre, closely followed by rock (29%).

Spotify partnered with Dr. Anneli Haake for the report, whose own research has taken place in hundreds of offices.

Spotify has developed the ultimate workplace playlist for the 9-5 day, including tracks to help employees get through the day.
